So, it’s been a year. Sarah Harris Photography has been in business for 365 days today. I keep asking myself how that went by so quickly and how are we already embarking on year two. It’s been a year of both stretching and growing in so many ways, so I sit here reflecting on that with so much gratitude I am not even able to put into words. It wasn’t that long ago, in fact it was only a matter of months, that I took the plunge and went full time with photography. I finally feel like I have found myself for the first time. I feel a confidence that was lost for so many years. In the past year, I am floored by the incredible people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting and the growth I’ve seen in my craft from day one to day 365. But, the most amazing part is that I’m not done growing. I’m not done striving for better.
As always, there were moments filled with profound discomfort this past year. There were many tears. There were times of great frustration and self-doubt. But, I sit here at the end of the first year knowing how far I have come since my first session, what obstacles I have overcome and with goals set as I continue this journey. I know I would never have made it this year without wonderful mentors, who I lovingly get to call friend. And I certainly would not have been able to do this without all of my amazing clients trusting me to capture their stories. My clients are my inspiration and the ‘why’ behind why I do what I do and why I want to continue doing it. I am so so thankful that all of you were willing to bet on me. I will never be able to put into words just how much that means to me.
In 2017, I was fortunate to attend amazing photography workshops where I have met some of my closest friends, invest in a business mentorship with Tonie Christine, travel across the country, be a part of 16 weddings as a primary, second and associate shooter, continue to mold and shape my style, and meet some of the most amazing couples and families. What a first year!
Mark Riboud once said, “Taking pictures is savoring life intensely every hundredth of a second.” in 2018, I am so excited to continue embracing life so presently and sharing that with all of my couples. I am excited to keep creating, to feel the moment when I am behind the lens and for that to radiate in each portrait I take. 2018 is looking amazing and I just cannot wait to tell more love stories. It’s going to be a rad year! I hope you’ll continue on this journey with me.
Here’s a look at some favorite moments from 2017
(as always, there are too many to add!)
